A very sincere thanks to the lovely & talented Valarie Savage Kinney for allowing me on her blog to post the A-Z basics of Livian!
Today on the blog, I think I have asked the hardest thing I could possibly ask of an author. I have asked for seven (my favorite number) reasons for YOU to read her book. This is always easier for a reader to answer, holding nothing back. Anyone can write a book but to be able to tell you what it is about these pages that you should stop and take notice, what the heart of the plot is and win you over without comparing their book to a popular selling title,— THIS is what makes any old writer a true author.
Please Welcome Elizabeth Lang as she gives us SEVEN REASONS TO READ THE REBELS:
SEVEN REASONS YOU MUST READ THE REBELS
- A powerful story about the choices people make when life doesn’t give you a choice.
- These characters are so real they’ll get into your heads, and might even do a little redecorating.
- Some people wake up hoping to be heroes, but few wake up wanting to be a villain. This book is an exploration of the reluctant.
- A dystopian vision of a future where security has become more important than freedom and being human isn’t necessarily a good thing.
- Sometimes you make the choices, but sometimes, the choices make you.
- Stew can be a lethal weapon.
An exhilarating action-adventure set in a sci-fi backdrop, full of humour and unexpected twists, a bit of romance and a jaw-dropping ending.
Well, I must admit, those were seven pretty intriguing reasons to pick up a new novel. Stew? A lethal weapon? Characters that want to be bad? Dystopian? I love the jaw-dropping endings as well- Makes you wonder if you are going to lay in silence and contemplate the ending or really want to call up Lang and ask her what in the heck she was thinking? I cannot wait to check it out and review it.
With Adrian’s jump gate, the Empire is readying to take the fight to their enemies. The Rebel Alliance takes advantage of this opportunity to expand it’s power and bring down this oppressive regime.
The charismatic Tucker and his second-in-command, Dain, are at the vanguard of this Rebel push, but is everything as simple as it seems? Adrian is once again caught up with factions vying to use his brilliant mind when a bounty hunter recaptures him while Kali and Bryce try to save him. Will they succeed? Are the Rebels their salvation or is there a hidden agenda that will destroy them all? Charles Sester the psychostrategist is back and at his manipulative best, but whose interests is he serving this time?
Thank you, Elizabeth for sharing your work with us and thank you for stopping by this blog.

If you aren’t on my facebook writer’s page, then you probably haven’t heard my recent news. I was lucky enough to get some really fantastic offers for LIVIAN to be published. I have officially signed with the publisher of my debut novel. LIVIAN will come out through the Burst Imprint of Champagne Books sometime in June 2012.
I am currently waiting to hear what my editor is going to throw my way. (I have an editor. I may feel differently once she puts me to work, but right now I am thrilled.) Some time soon, artists will be creating the cover of my book. (This is where I throw out my Carlton Banks Happy Dance.) I am with a group of fantastic authors. The publisher has provided me with a lovely mentor to help me through the publishing of my first novel. Right now, I am just taking in my many blessings.
I have also just published my official website. www.picarellawrites.com. I will be posting short updates on the site.
That is all for now. I have been dying to share this news and now I have. Thanks for reading!
It has been a bit longer than I had anticipated since my last post. For those of you that did not know, I have recently been in the middle of a move. We are now in the new home completely, and most of the boxes are even unpacked at this point. My study is still a bit of a mess. Everything is out of boxes, though it seems that the majority of “study items” are stacked several feet high and possessing what should be my desk.
I have decided to lean away from the route of literary agents and push more towards the search for a publisher. I am well aware that with this being my debut novel, this is a bit against the grain- though, I feel that in my heart, this is the path for me at this time.
While I seek for a publisher for Livian, I will also continue with the adult novel that I call, “Anna” until a better title sticks.
Thanks for reading. As I become a bit more settled into the new home, I will continue blogging on a regular basis once again. Stay tuned!
Earlier today, my dear writer friend, Dawn Kirby and myself decided that it was time for writers to unite beyond simple impersonal tweets. By this, we have created #fbwriter.
A hash tag on twitter, to post a link of a facebook “like page” with #fbwriter in the tweet allows an index, so to speak, of links for writers from all over the world- of all genres. Dawn, actually made the sister support of the hash tag by creating a page on facebook, allowing writers to post their facebook pages into an index there as well. Facebook also offers more than the quick connections of twitter. The facebook hash tag page gives writers a meeting room for discussions, support, and general questions.
Sometimes, the world of a writer, published or not, can be a rather lonely place. Even with friends, family, and fans to support you, a writer carries self doubt, mostly when it comes into their entire heart bleeding into the pages of a novel; a writer’s precious baby. With the creation of #fbwriter, Dawn and I hope to ease the minds of other writers in this small spot on the web where it is okay to need advice, support, or just another means to get your name out there in this vast literary world.
Writers, join us- post your facebook page and make yourself at home!
Agents, Publishers, and Readers, welcome yourself into our world anytime.
